Are you a human in need of fixing? Do you think that you’re fine “just the way God made you”?
Well, if you’re a Christian, you probably need to fix at least some things in your life, because we aren’t all perfect, and we won’t be, at least not until getting to Heaven.
And as we all know, just like parents raising children, God is raising us. And it isn’t easy. While little kids fill diapers, break objects, and throw food (or so I imagine, being childless), so too do we sin, break away from God’s grace, and basically cover ourselves in manure every time we sin.
But, beyond that, there are three reasons our souls need purification, and Msgr Pope provides some thoughts and reflections on those reasons, especially as we begin to make spiritual progress. He draws especially from Fr Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, the great 20th Century Dominican theologian, who himself draws from spiritual masters and St Thomas Aquinas.
