Andrew Klusman's Blog

On beginnings

Welcome to the third iteration of my blog!

As a beginning and introduction, let’s cover a few bases.

Who am I?
Just an idiot with a keyboard.  At least on most days.  Someone who has a bit too much time on his hands, but that’s OK.  Right now, I’m a Milwaukee, Wisconsin native who is living in the land of horses, bourbon, and belles – Louisville, Kentucky.  I’ve been here since March 2013.  My educational background includes a diocesan Catholic school, a Jesuit secondary school, and a secular engineering school.  The thing that most informs my life is my Catholic Faith.  My interests in life range from beer to Catholicism to history to technology.  You can expect to see a large variety of topics written here.

Why the title?
The title is taken from the versicle and response from the Fifth Lection of St. Andrew’s feast day (November 30) in the traditional Roman Rite.  The entirety of the prayer goes:

R. O bona crux, quae decorem et pulchritudinem de membris Domini suscepisti; accipe me ab hominibus, et redde me magistro meo:
* Ut per te me recipiat, qui per te me redemit.
V. Beatus Andreas expansis manibus ad caelum orabat, dicens: Salva me bona crux.
R. Ut per te me recipiat, qui per te me redemit.
R. O precious cross, which the Members of my Lord have made so fair and goodly, welcome me from among men, and join me again to my Master,
* That, as by thee He redeemed me, so by thee also He may take me unto Himself.
V. The blessed Andrew stretched forth his hands to heaven and prayed, saying Precious cross, be my salvation,
R. That, as by thee He redeemed me, so by thee also He may take me unto Himself

Having St. Andrew as my patron saint, I try to foster a strong devotion to him.  Plus, he was one of the first Apostles and a martyr, so he’s a pretty legit person to try and emulate.

What will I talk about?
Lots.  I will talk about lots.  To give myself some focus, I imagine that this blog will be part of an homage to Milwaukee and Wisconsin (two wonderful and Catholic locations), but it will also focus on life in Louisville, current events (primarily in the Church), and whatever else I run into in my life.  But, generally, that’s Catholic stuff and Wisconsin stuff.

What is the frequency of posting?
The goal so far is to post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  It could be more or less frequent, as time and life permits!  We’ll see how it goes!….
