Back in August 2014, New Liturgical Movement posted a recording of the Trappist monks at Gethsemani singing in 1958. The recording was the hymn O quam glorifica. You can read more about the history and usage of the hymn at “A Special Hymn for the Assumption”.
What I find a bit interesting, however, are the other recordings posted from the YouTube user blackjack3237. He’s uploaded 9 recordings from that 1959 album, along with a solemn Salve Regina.
The recordings are surprisingly good quality for being off of a 50+ year old album! Hearing those monks sing is quite something else (if only they could do the same, today!). Definitely worth the less than 30 minutes it would take to listen to the whole set that has been posted.
