One of the (many) things I love about Catholicism is how we try to Catholicize… pretty much everything we do (or at least, we used to). From institutions like St. Mary-of-the-Woods (see what I did there?) to Our Lady of Pretty-Much-Anything-Ever, we have Our Lady of the Highways. This devotion has a varied history, and it seems different parts of the country have their own shrines. The one this card came from is located in Childs, Maryland, which has its beginnings in a tragic automobile accident that occurred in October 1968. There is also a shrine in New Jersey dedicated to Our Lady of the Highways, which, as expected, also stemmed from a tragic automobile accident.
May Our Lady of the Highways protect us as we drive!
