Happy Remembrance of a First Solemn Mass

Priest_a Priest_b

This is a card I picked up out of the Marian Center’s “free” bin (my most favorite bin) in Louisville’s East End.  I’ve found many a holy card there.  This card predates me, my parents, and all four grandparents, which is pretty cool, when you think about it.  One of the many great things about being Catholic.  This is a remembrance card of Fr Vincent Gottbrath’s First Solemn Mass in 1929.  An oddity of this card is the back side is upside down.

Fr. Gottbrath entered into his eternal reward on April 1, 1995 in New Albany, IN and is buried at the cemetery at Mount St. Francis.  His obituary can be read here.

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
